Hello world. My name is Ivan Kucherenko, but I'm best known in Net as Vano. I'm 25 y.o, live in Kyiv (Ukraine). My professional occupation is web-development and everything related to it.

That's me

I was born on March 9th, 1982 in the Voroshilovgrad city (former Ukrainian SSR, ex Soviet Union), now it's called Lugansk (Ukraine), where graduated from high school and University, founded my own business, then successfully sold it and lived till I was 23 y.o., after that I've decided to move to Kyiv due to reasons of my professional evolution and growth.

I've began to develop web-sites in 1999 and during those 8 years of making them learned a lot in this area, but I'm still studying and discovering more new features I can implement.

Amongst my hobbies are hi-technologies, which actually consist from a wide variety of things, and also marketing, especially advertisement, creative and branding. Of course I like good cars, serious literature, interesting movies of different genres, music and etc, as though I'm interested in local, worldwide, different industries and political news, love to travel, which unfortunately happens rarely :( And also I like sports, but don't have opportunity to be on it very often. Actually, I consider myself a diversified person, but don't tend to cognize everything.

/ What I do /

I develop web-sites and application of any complicacy level. Mostly I work as project manager, which means that I develop project concept, prepare technical documentation, gather team of developers and control project running in common, as though do a lot of other thing related to managing of web-projects. Sometimes I also do some web-designing and rarely coding.

In every project my project, depending on its level and budget, collaborates a team of web-developers, which I coordinate and manage. But, of course, some small projects I can complete myself.

Also, sometimes I use my first philology education for copywriting, i.e. creating some texts and materials for web-site, but of course I reckon, that it's not my, put professional journalist's or copywriter's job.

Generally, in my work I hold the opinion, that every task must be completed by professionals in its area, that's why according to project's budget I prefer to recruit specialists for every task.

After release of project usually you need to devote some resources and time to its promotion and advertising, that's why I have to be good in this area too.

I'm not perfectionist, but in my work I aim to be perfect.

/ My ideas /

Ideas rule the world and in my life and career they also play very important role.

I consider myself rather creative person and dependently on given task, and sometimes even without it, I'm able to generate enormous ideas.

Unfortunately, I can't implement and finish all my ideas, but I try to do my best.

/ What I've done /

All projects I've taken part in are in this list. Dependently on conditions I've played different roles in them besides the primary one - managing. During 8 years of my activity in this area was done a lot, of course more, than there are in list, but not all of my projects are still alive, and some of them I've decided not to include due to different reasons.

/ Why 2.0 /

In 2004 Tim O'Reilly was first who credited new term Web 2.0, which describes the new age of Internet evolution.

Someone accepts this concept, someone not. Someone considers it marketing bubble, but it's hard to deny the fact, that Net is evolving. We slowly move away from old principles of web-sites developing to the new ones, trying to endow them with souls and make more socially oriented.

For me magic number 2.0 means first of all in the point of view to the developing of web-based project, it design and usability and other 2.0 components, in services it can provide to its users, and, of course, in my day-to-day toolkit as active web-user and web-developer.

All of us write blogs in LiveJournal, search for some knowledge in Wikipedia, upload photos to Flickr and videos to YouTube, read news via RSS feeds and create slides and widgets in Slide, and also use a wide variety of other services and resources, which appeared recently, but without them we hardly can imagine present Internet.

/ My team /

Usually I don't participate in projects alone, more often I collaborate with my team. Sometimes it may be one person, and sometimes 10. In every project there is position for specialist, but usually for several ones, if the project is serious, difficult and can afford such team.

Preparing project documentation, writing project specifications and controlling project running is a job of project manager, developing design and structure - UI designer and usability specialist, creating design layouts - web designer, and internal pages and interfaces design can make technical designer, coding and optimizing is a task of coder. Database structure and design is developed by DB designer-architector, and web-site engine creation is a job of programmers. Later everything is tested by QA testers and every member of a team, and after copywriting of web-site content by copywriter and posting it by content-manager, alpha-version of web-site is tested by usual users. After beta-version release SEO and promotion specialists start their job.

This list is not completely full, but in my team there all those guys. Nevertheless, our team is open for everyone, if they are good enough for us.

/ For investors /

Web-projects market is one of the most growing and attractive for investors. In United States hundreds millions of dollars is invested in it, in Russia and Ukraine - millions. Some investors prefer to purchase well-known successful projects, some - invest into beginning ones, so called startups.

I'm not in active search for investments in my ideas, but some of them are worth of it.

Right now I've got ideas of two great projects, which completely suit Web 2.0 concept, based on social networking principles. First one is a news resource, its geo targeting is Russian speaking segment of Internet, and still there are no analogues. Second is movie fan social network, its geo targeting is worldwide and there no analogues of it at all. Both projects suppose monetization, clear target audience, stable profits from advertisement and paid premium services for users.
